DePauw University Choirs and Orchestra

For the School of Music's final concert of the season, DePauw University orchestra, choirs and faculty soloists will perform Ralph Vaughan Williams' “Serenade to Music.” Created as a tribute to the English conductor Sir Henry Wood and playwright William Shakespeare, the serenade sets to music a poetic discussion about music from Act V, Scene 1 of "The Merchant of Venice." The beauty of the work is reported to have moved to tears the celebrated pianist Sergei Rachmaninov, who was performing one of his own pieces on the same program that night in 1938 of Vaughan Williams' premiere at Royal Albert Hall.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm. Closed Sundays and major holidays.
