David Hayes: Permanent Nature

Above, the artist amidst the David Hayes Sculpture Field in Coventry, Connecticut. At right, Ventana #9, 2006, painted, welded steel. For a video of the David Hayes Sculpture Field, visit here.

The artist’s son, also David Hayes, will give a talk on his late father’s work at 6pm.

In addition to sculptures dating from 1972 to 2010, the exhibition will include studies made for the three-dimensional work. This is the first exhibition of the entire ten-piece Ventana series, the last series created by the artist. The ten sculptures from 2005-2006 will be shown alongside studies for the works done in gouache, an opaque watercolor medium.

The exhibition will travel to the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum and the Muscatine Art Center following its premiere in Terre Haute. Support in part from the Edward and Verna Gerbic Family Foundation and the David Hayes Art Foundation.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm. Closed Sundays and major holidays.
