Taking My Turn

Musical Celebration conceived & adapted by Robert H. Livingston;
Music by Gary Wm. Friedman; Lyrics by Will Holt

Taking My Turn is a musical about aging that is irrepressibly young at heart. It musically reviews some of the concerns and anxieties, the complaints and enjoyments that are peculiar to people “in their prime.” As one woman explains, when she was a child, she was told to be quiet. When she got older, all the kids were getting the attention. ”Finally,” she declares,” it's my turn to do the talking.” This is an old-fashioned musical show and its heart is shamelessly upbeat. Optimism is crucial. The judiciously defiant anthem is “I'm Fine! – For the Shape I'm In.” 1984 Outer Critic's Circle Award for Best Lyrics/Music
